Do you want to join us on a cruise on Saturday, 27th August?
The famous lagoon of Balos is located about 56 km northwest of Chania. It is one of the most photographed beaches of Crete. The lagoon of Balos has white sand and exotic white, intense green-blue and turquoise waters. The water is shallow and warm, making it the ideal choice for children.
On the Gramvousa peninsula there is a castle, which was built by the Venetians and used as a fortress against the invaders, who occasionally wanted to conquer the area. The castle was built in 1579-84, at a height of 137 meters above the natural port. The location of the castle was strategic, as it protected the whole of northwestern Crete. Its size continues to impress since it has a triangular shape with each side reaching one kilometer!
For the island of Gramvousa and the lagoon of Balos, the ferry departs from the port of Kissamos (Kavonisi).
Gramvousa and Balos are Wildlife Refuges (KAZ) and areas of special natural beauty, included in the European program NATURA 2000.
Due to the preservation of their natural environment, there are no roads in these areas, which can be difficult for people with reduced mobility.
The ship departs at 10.10 in the morning and returns at 17.45. We must be at the boarding area of the ship in the port of Kissamos 40 minutes before departure.
Note that the trip depends on the weather. Some days, while the weather may allow the trip to be safe, it can still cause inconvenience during the cruise. It’s up to you to decide if you want to travel with the group or if you want to choose another day to enjoy your cruise.
As a group and on the condition that we will gather more than 30 people, we have negotiated reduced prices for the cruise:
• Passengers up to 5 years old, travel for free (instead of 2 years which is the usual age limit).
• Passengers aged 6 to 12 years, pay 9 € (instead of 10 €).
• Passengers aged 13 and over pay € 17 (instead of € 20).
The above ticket prices include VAT and other charges, as well as a written explanation of the tour in various languages. Prices do not include lunch.
The restaurant-bar (self service) of the ship is open throughout the cruise, so you can enjoy a delicious meal, salad, wine, snacks, coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, etc. or take your meal in a package for your stay off board.
For the Municipality of Kissamos, before boarding the ship, passengers over 13 years old pay 1 € in addition to the ticket price, as a reciprocal fee for a visit to the lagoon of Balos.
